The learning curve when moving into a new school leadership position is steep! I know. I’ve been there. I serve school leaders who are "in the arena." Because our world needs brave and courageous leaders "in the arena," problem-solving and engaging with the complexities of today.
School leaders seek me out to help them with:
Overwhelm - stress and anxiety due to too many responsibilities, and feeling
alone to create change
Time management - not enough time to do the most important work
(children)
Frustration - frustrated about the slow pace of change
Boundaries - caring too much without setting appropriate boundaries
Relationships - navigating a new culture, Board and team
Faith in the system - frustration about being trapped in a bigger system that feels broken
Redefining purpose - help rebounding, rebooting or reinventing
With my help they find their way back to more clarity, energy, joy and passion, and are able to stay “in the arena" and thrive. My clients say I’m observant, realistic and to-the-point. I create simplicity, efficiency and space for reflection and growth.
MY BACKGROUND
I’m an accidental educator. After majoring in biology, my path led me to teaching environmental education in an independent school where I created a first-of-its-kind education program. From there and over the last 20 years, in several innovative schools, I have held leadership positions including Head of School, Director of Teaching & Learning, and Director of Admission & Communication.
I’ve stood “in the arena” many times. In fact, in all my career I’ve always “dared greatly” by taking risks to create something new, lead something new, or reimagine what’s possible for the future of schools and learning.
("In The Arena" concept taken from Theodore Roosevelt's 1910 speech, “Citizenship in a Republic.")
